If you thought Montreal’s traffic was bad… brace yourself. Things are about to get a whole lot worse.
Due to the upcoming UCI Road World Championships, traffic in the city "is going to be hell," warned Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada.
From September 20 to 27, roughly 1,000 cyclists from 80 countries will hit the streets, racing across Montreal and its South Shore.
The 36-kilometer race course cuts through seven local boroughs. Major thoroughfares will take a direct hit, including Notre-Dame Street and a stretch of Park Avenue between Mont-Royal and Des Pins.
To help drivers navigate the chaos, the city has launched an interactive map showing all affected roads, closures, and detours.
