Storm Watch: 15+ cm and Near-Zero Visibility for TUESDAY

Environment Canada is warning of a new storm brewing for the Montreal area. We saw it coming in the forecast last week, and now we know more about what to expect.

A low-pressure system from Colorado will gain steam over the Great Lakes and pummel us with yet another major snowfall Tuesday and Wednesday (Jan. 29 & 30). We’re expecting 15 cm of snow or more to fall on the Montreal area by Tuesday evening, with more snow on Wednesday.

The snowfall will be accompanied by windy conditions – in the afternoon, blowing snow is expected to reduce the visibility to near-zero.

Obviously, this means Tuesday’s commute – and possibly Wednesday’s as well – will be affected. In addition, after the major snow and rain that fell last week, the city is still a mess and crews aren’t likely to have finished clearing up the streets by the time the coming storm is over…
