Monday marks another new phase of Quebec’s deconfinement and this latest phase is the biggest step yet in the slow reopening of the Montreal region.
As of this past weekend, zoos, gardens, agro-tourism farms, tourist information centres, and indoor sports facilities were allowed to open and now Quebecers have more reason to celebrate!
Here’s a list of everything reopening as of today:
Following the rest of the province, people in the Greater Montreal area, Joliette and l’Epiphanie may begin having indoor visits of up to 10 people from a maximum of three households.
Quebec’s Houses of worship, cinemas, theatres, concert halls, and other indoor venues can reopen with a maximum of 50 clients.
Restaurants in the Greater Montreal area, Joliette and l'Epiphanie may reopen, including food courts in shopping malls.
Day camps across Quebec may open; meanwhile, daycares are no longer requiring physical distancing between children or between children and daycare staff.
Finally, gyms, indoor pools, arenas, and public and private beaches may reopen across all of Quebec. This is great news for anyone looking to cool down since Montreal is going through another heatwave this week.
In addition, Montrealers can look forward to the reopening of the Jean-Dore beach, the Aquatic Complex and the Olympic basin located at Parc Jean-Drapeau.
The Olympic Basin will open the first week of July; the beach in the second week and the aquatic complex will open in the third week of July.
With the new wave of restrictions now lifted, it is important to remember Quebec is still not in the clear.
Quebec public health authorities reported Sunday that 92 more people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the province, and nine more people have died.
This marks the second time the number of new cases has been below 100 in the past week and the lowest tally of new cases since March 19.
As of this weekend, Quebec has 54,766 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 5,417 people have died.
The number of patients being treated in Quebec hospitals dropped again Sunday with eight fewer people currently hospitalized for a total of 521. Of those, 61 people are in the intensive care ward.
