Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities has announced that the Samuel De Champlain Bridge will continue to show rainbow colours throughout all of July.
According to Infrastructure, the Champlain Bridge will light up every Sunday from 9:30 pm to 10:30 pm to show hope, solidarity, and gratitude to all health and essential service workers.
“The Samuel De Champlain Bridge has become a symbol of hope across Greater Montreal in the face of COVID-19,” Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, said. “I am pleased that the bridge will continue to display its rainbow lights every Sunday evening in July to honour our front-line workers and remember those we have lost. The lights are also a reminder to all of us to follow the guidance of our public health officials. Continue to take care of yourselves, your loved ones and your community.”
The Samuel de Champlain Bridge first showed rainbow lights on March 29.
One-Year Anniversary
Yesterday marked the first anniversary of infrastructure, which was designed to meet the various mobility needs of residents of the greater Montreal. Not only does the bridge provides a modern link between Montreal and the South Shore for thousands of commuters, cyclists, pedestrians and tourists— but it also helps the transportation of good worth more 20 billion dollars per year.

Montreal's Jacques Cartier Bridge has also been displaying rainbow colours throughout the pandemic along with many buildings and structures throughout the city.
