The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) honoured and celebrated the Canadian music industry's rising stars last night.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 42nd Juno Awards were presented via a virtual press conference Monday night. What is usually a two-night series of events was withered down into an hour-and-a-half-long pre-recorded special that included special performances by Alessia Cara, iskwē, Neon Dreams, and by The Dead South.

As expected, the nominees consisted of a variety of high-profile Canadians from more than one generation of stars including Bryan Adams, Alessia Cara and Tory Lanez, to name a few.

Alessia Cara emerged the top winner with three awards: album and pop album of the year, as well as songwriter of the year. Other highlights included two-time winner Shawn Mendes, who was selected as artist of the year and Lennon Stella who won breakthrough artist.
