It feels like yesterday when we published an article about Health Canada issuing a recall on hand sanitizers, and yet here we are again.
Health Canada has once again announced it is recalling several brands of ethanol hand sanitizers which they say may pose a health risk due to unauthorized ingredients. The advisory comes after the department issued a couple of recalls last month.
The newly recalled product is a gel hand sanitizer that is distributed by JIS Specialty Products. It has 70% Ethanol. The statement released by Health Canada reads, "denaturants are added to ethanol to make it unfit for human consumption and, therefore, to avoid the unintentional ingestion of hand sanitizers (particularly by children)".

If any of these products match those within your home, Health Canada advises you to consult with a healthcare professional.
You should, of course, stop using the products and follow municipal or regional guidelines on how to dispose of chemicals and other hazardous waste. You may also return the product to your local pharmacy for proper disposal.
