Given how far technology has come in the past twenty years, board games might sound a little outdated considering the ever-expanding world of video games and other gadgets— but board games are more popular than ever before. In fact, the global board games market is worth over $3.2 billion and is set to rise to $8.12 by 2021 according to board games market value data on Statistica.

Many things which were once considered fun have been deemed obsolete, yet the humble board game is still in play today. Additionally, many board games continue to sell well, even decades after they were first released. And when you think about it, it all makes sense since tabletop gaming is a great way to spend time with family and friends.

When you think about the greatest board games ever made, one game that quickly comes to mind is Monopoly. The game is so popular that over the years there have been 1144 versions of the game released so far. We’ve seen everything from Cocktail-Opoly (which features a cocktail theme), to a version inspired by H.P. Lovecraft and even one titled DRINK-A-PALOOZA which mixes everyone's favorite college drinking games and packs them into one. They even made a version inspired by the bible called Bible Bibleopoly.

Now 85 years after the original version as published in 1935, Montreal is finally getting its own version of Monopoly!

For a limited time, you can purchase Montréal-opoly exclusively at Walmart Canada or on their website for $29.23.

According to the description on the Wallmart website, this version of Monopoly includes popular locations on the island such as Old Montreal, the Olympic Stadium, and Parc Jean-Drapeau, as well as various festivals like the Jazz Fest and Just for Laughs. You can buy your favourite Montreal properties, increase your rent by collecting City Blocks, and trading them in for Keys to the City.

Best of all, they’ve replaced the go to jail square with landing on a "Traffic Jam".

Montréal-opoly might not be an official Monopoly game since it isn’t made by Hasbro (this version is published by Outset Media) but it’s the closest we’ll ever get to a Montreal edition of Monopoly.
