Montreal dog turned internet sensation is making the world feel better

Sometimes all it takes is an adorable talking dog to make you feel better. Enter, Pluto, a 13-year-old schnauzer who took the internet by storm at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic with quarantine-themed videos from the perspective of a dog.

Pluto and her human guardian NJ Wight (a popular wildlife photographer who has also been a stand-up comic) have been releasing a series of videos over the past few months offering advice on surviving social isolation from the perspective of a dog amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pluto has become so popular that her videos have generated over 12 million views in five months on YouTube where she currently has 101K subs. Add on 352,475 Facebook followers, 122, 000 Instagram fans and you’ll understand why she even has her own plush doll!

While Pluto’s biggest fans seem to be health care workers and teachers, she has also generated buzz from tons of celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston, Sia, and Demi Lovato who can’t stop talking about her. But despite all the popularity, what makes Pluto truly special is her brand of comedy and the message behind it.

What began as an inside joke for friends has exploded into an internet sensation!

As you can see from the video embedded above, Pluto dispenses helpful advice on coping with the COVID-19 epidemic and how it has affected our everyday life. There is plenty to laugh at too, which is fine, since we can all use some much-needed comic relief, especially during times like these.

“Someone who was a Facebook friend asked me to make her public and I put up a video and then took it down, but then someone asked again so I made a public one on my Facebook account and the next morning I had 400 new follow requests in my personal inbox. I knew then I had to make Pluto her own page,” Wight told CTV News. “It’s been mind-boggling. She passed my wildlife photography page in followers in 17 minutes. I am now known as the ‘unrenowned wildlife photographer’, which is my real passion.”

Pluto and her mom currently reside in Montreal and have recently started their own Pluto Living University, which is described as an online place to study for people with too much time on their hands.
