For the first time since May, Quebec broke the 1,000-case barrier on Friday, reporting 1,052 new COVID-19 cases on Friday morning, as cases skyrocket across the province.
According to Santé Quebec, there are now 76,273 cases in the region, 302 hospitalizations, and 49 patients in intensive care.
No new deaths were reported today, but officials did, however, add seven deaths that occurred before October 1 bringing the province’s total number of fatalities to 5,857.
To date, 1,486,345 tests have turned up negative throughout Quebec, according to the October 2 update.
According to Premier François Legault, Quebecers should only get tested if they have come in contact with infected individuals or are manifesting symptoms.
