“A lie keeps growing and growing until it's as plain as the nose on your face”.

A recent study published in the Journal of Basic and Applied Psychology found that the average American lies three times in a 10-minute conversation. In another study, college students admitted lying at least once, if not twice a day.

The truth is everyone lies for a variety of reasons. Whether it's to get what we want, protect someone we love, or cover up a mistake, every one of us tells a lie from time to time.

In fact, if you are reading this and saying to yourself that you’ve never told a lie, chances are you’re lying to yourself.

The question is, what do people lie about the most? The answer should be obvious but for those who want to know, Best Life put together a list of the 40 most common white lies people use on daily basis.

How many of these lies have you told?

1: "I'm almost there."

2: "It must have gone to my spam folder."
