The crime rate was down across Canada during the first six months of the pandemic. Between March and August, there was a 17% drop in violent crimes; a 20% drop in sexual assaults; break-and-enters were down 25%, and no surprise, shoplifting was down 50%. Service calls, however, were up - a 10% increase in a domestic disturbance and mental health-related calls and, well, reports of uttering threats by family members rose by 4%,
