Quebec reports over 1,000 new COVID-19 cases, 35 additional deaths

The number of new COVID-19 cases in the province of Quebec has jumped back above 1,000 as hospitalizations continue to rise.

Quebec health officials added 1,179 new cases to be exact, and 35 additional deaths, including eight over the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, there are now 652 people hospitalized. Of those, 100 are in the intensive care ward.

The highest increase in cases was reported in Montreal with 280, bringing the total of 47,415.

Public health officials reported that 127,233 people in Quebec have now contracted COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
