In 2019, John Oliver produced a famous segment on his popular show Last Week Tonight that examined the popularity of psychics in America. He reported that 4 out of 10 people believe that psychics have 'special' abilities and that billions of dollars are spent every year by people desperate to have psychics help them with their problems.

As you would expect from the famous comedian, John Oliver criticized psychic mediums in the episode while revealing the techniques they utilize to prey on people’s grief.

Of course, that is just one man’s opinion, and many people would argue that not all psychic mediums are fake. In fact, the majority of Americans - 57% - say they believe in psychic phenomena such as ESP (Extra Sensory Perception), telepathy, or experiences that can’t be explained by normal means.

Recently on The Beat 5@7, Cat and Claudia discussed the phenomenon and whether they believe in psychic mediums. Towards the end of the broadcast, Cat received a surprise phone call from a local medium who read his fortune.
