Quebec sets a new record for COVID-19 cases

Quebec once again broke the record for new single-day COVID-19 cases Wednesday, with 2,511 new infections reported over the last 24 hours.

Wednesday's update brings the total number of cases in Quebec since the start of the pandemic to 199,822, with 21,611 still active.

Quebec also reported another 41 more deaths linked to the virus on Wednesday. Ten of those occurred in the previous 24 hours. A total of 8,165 people in the province have so far died because of the disease.

There are now 1,211 patients in hospitals because of COVID-19 — a new high since the second wave began. Among those hospitalized, 152 are in intensive care units.
