Montreal police are encouraging bike owners to download the latest anti-theft app, 529 Garage. This app will help SPVM officers with their investigations, just as much as it will help owners get their property rightfully returned back to them.

Downloadable on the App Store and Google Play, you can register your bike for free by setting up your profile along with other information about the bike, such as: photos, serial number, model, etc.

In a place filled with passionate cyclists and annual Tour de l’Île’s like in Montreal, we are likely to face heavy bike theft in the city. Vélo Québec estimates that somewhere between 15,000 and 25,000 bikes are stolen in Montreal every year alone. That being said, we are expecting an increase in numbers, as we have seen an even bigger bike shortage than last year.

Vélo Québec and SPVM are encouraging cyclists to get ahead of the game and register their bikes before the summer season begins in Montreal.
