In what marks a first for Quebec, the province will open its first drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination site at Montreal's Trudeau airport later this month.

Health Minister Christian Dubé and Chantal Rouleau, the minister responsible for the region, made the announcement at a press conference Tuesday morning, which included a demonstration of several people getting vaccinated while in their car.

The clinic will open to the public on May 17 and will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.

Staff at the site will be expected to administer up to 4,000 doses per day.

“Innovative. This is the word that comes to mind to describe the first drive-through vaccination centre in Quebec, located at the Montreal airport, which I visited this morning”, Dube Said. “At full power, up to 4,000 people per day will be vaccinated there. It will gradually open its doors in mid-May.”
