Starting tonight, the Old Port site will be closed after midnight.
The Old Port of Montreal made the announcement on Wednesday stating that the site will be closed from midnight to 6 a.m. every day, starting until further notice.
"All activities, boutiques, and terraces will close up for the night at 11 pm," reads a Facebook post.
No specific reason for the closure was given. However, the news comes after piles of trash were left on site by thousands of Montrealers who celebrated the end of the curfew.
Riot police were called in to break up the rowdy crowds after fireworks were set off, several shops were vandalized and there were reports of violent altercations including an 18-year-old woman who was shot, and a 19-year-old man stabbed at Place Jacques-Cartier.
