Good news Montreal!

Starting next week, all of Quebec will be either designated green or yellow zones.

As the daily number of new COVID-19 cases, deaths, and hospitalizations continue to drop, Francois Legault announced that as of June 14, there will be no more orange and red zones in the province.

According to Legault, Montreal, Laval, Capitale-Nationale, Montérégie, Laurentides, Lanaudière, Estrie, Outaouais and all of the Bas-Saint-Laurent will be downgraded from orange alert to yellow on the colour-coded pandemic alert scale.

According to the Quebec.ca website, the rules for a yellow zone are as follows:

No curfew.

Travel between regions and cities is not recommended, but it is possible.

Indoor gatherings are limited to the occupants of 2 households.

Outdoor gatherings and gatherings on balconies are limited to a maximum of 8 people from different households or all occupants from 2 households. Basic health instructions must be followed at all times.

Restaurants can open. The occupants of a maximum of two private residences can share the same table.

Bars, brasseries, taverns, and casinos can open. The operators of these establishments must comply with certain conditions:

  • 50% of the maximum capacity stipulated on the liquor licence;
  • the occupants from not more than two private residences per table;
  • a distance of two metres between the tables;
  • customers must remain seated at their tables;
  • dancing and singing are prohibited;
  • the operators must record customer contact information;
  • the customers must live in a yellow or green zone;
  • the establishments must close at midnight (alcohol sales must stop at 11 p.m.).

This is a developing story that will be updated.
