One of the city's most popular summer hangout spots will open to the public on Saturday, June 12!
Anyone looking for a place to cool off this summer can visit Verdun Beach, provided they follow the strict new health precautions to limit the potential spread of Covid-19.
To accommodate high demand, only 80 people are allowed in at a time and visitors can only stay for blocks of 45 minutes.
According to the city's website, swimmers must arrive at the beach already dressed in their bathing suits. There have been fences added to enclose the spot and beachgoers must enter and exit from opposite ends of the site.
Furthermore, everyone must sanitize their hands before entering.
The beach’s bathrooms will remain open, but guests will not be permitted to use the shower services.
The free urban beach, located in Arthur-Therrien Park, behind the Verdun Auditorium, is open every day from 10 am to 7 pm but is subject to close without warning before or after a storm.
Beachgoers are welcome to call 514-280-0789 for updates on water quality and ask if swimming is allowed that day.
Please be aware that until the beach opens on Saturday, the swimming area is unsupervised, and swimming is not recommended.
