Are you ready to spend more on alcohol?

As reported in its May 18th news release, the SAQ will be raising the retail prices of 2,306 products. Quebec's liquor board confirmed the news earlier today, stating that the price hikes will take effect on Sunday.

Of these, 90 are products whose price adjustment was postponed in May because they were on promotion.

According to the company, there are several reasons for the price increases including higher duties on alcohol and higher freight charges on maritime transport.

"In recent weeks, the SAQ has spared no effort to reduce the freight charge increases initially announced by its freight forwarders," the SAQ said in its release. "The work of its teams has succeeded in limiting the effects of these freight forwarder-imposed increases on retail prices."

The new prices will take effect on Sunday, July 18, 2021.
