Looks like the Stanley Cup will be returning to Montreal after all… Well, temporarily that is.
The Tampa Bay Lightning took their celebrations to the next level at a “Champa Bay” boat parade on Monday, where the Stanley Cup ended up looking like a Flat Stanley by the end of the day.
According to CTV News, this celebration was even bigger than their last win, especially with the recent loosening of restrictions that Floridians have been experiencing for the last several months:
“The second Lightning boat parade in 10 months was fitting of that desire for more celebration. Captain Steven Stamkos wore a T-shirt bearing the message "BACK TO BOAT," and the back-to-back champs were toasted with a boat parade on the Hillsborough River, with thousands of fans no longer burdened by COVID-19 restrictions gathering downtown to join the fun.”
While it’s not the first time that the Stanley Cup has needed some adjusting over the years, Montreal can expect the brief return of the Cup at some point this week.
