Monday (September 6) is Labour Day, and while everyone enjoys a well-deserved day off, many businesses, institutions and services will be closed or disrupted for the occasion. The following is a list of businesses, attractions, public services, and much more that are open or closed.
Closed
Provincial and federal offices will be closed.
Canada Post offices will be closed and mail will not be delivered.
Most banks will be closed.
Large shopping malls and grocery stores will be closed. We recommend checking to see if smaller grocery stores are open ahead of time.
Most SAQ branches will be closed but those in public markets and SAQ Express locations will be open.
Any institution staffed by City of Montreal employees, such as municipal offices and the courts, will be closed.
Open
Parking restrictions and parking payment machines remain in effect.
Public markets will be open.
Each borough will set its own schedule for sports centres, pools, arenas, and cultural centres. Please check your borough’s website for more information.
Eco centres will be open as per their usual schedules.
The Biodôme, Botanical Gardens, Planetarium, and Biosphere will be open.
Various garbage collection services will be maintained according to usual schedules in all boroughs except Montreal North, where the collection of green waste has been rescheduled to the next day.
The STM will operate on modified hours. We recommend you consult the STM schedules via stm.info.
The Both the Société de transport de Laval and the Réseau de transport de Longueuil will run on Sunday schedules.
Exo buses will operate on Saturday schedules and commuter trains on Sunday schedules.
