Quebec's Leylah Fernandez and Félix Auger-Aliassime made a surprise appearance at the Met Gala in New York City on Monday night, dazzling everyone with their stunning outfits.
Known as one of the world’s most exclusive social events for celebrities, both young tennis stars made the guest list after taking the world by storm at the US Open last week.
Fernandez made history at the tournament last week when she became the second Canadian woman ever to make it to the final. The 19-year-old Quebec teen fell short of winning the title in the final at New York’s Arthur Ashe Stadium on Sept. 11, losing 6-4, 6-3 to the U.K.’s Emma Raducanu. Meanwhile, 21-year-old Auger-Aliassime, became the first Canadian man to advance to the final four at the US Open in the tournament’s history (since 1881).
While neither of the Montreal stars won the tournament, they came very close with an incredible run each as they grabbed the attention of everyone worldwide.

Of course, they weren’t the only tennis stars in attendance. Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, and U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu were also among the 400 guests invited to the annual event. Osaka wore a Louis Vuitton gown with a print of multi-coloured koi fish designed by her sister Mari; Williams wore a bodysuit and elaborate feathered cape by Gucci, and Raducanu was seen wearing a look from the Chanel Cruise 2021/22 collection, following her incredible run at the tournament.
