Much of Canada will observe a second holiday this month as Sept. 30 will mark the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation which will coincide with Orange Shirt Day to honour the lost children and Survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities.

If you are looking to purchase an orange shirt to wear on the special day, we recommend buying it directly from the organization that started the movement.

The Orange Shirt Society has everything you need including sweaters, coffee mugs, buttons and so much more to choose from!

And yes, they have this year’s newly designed tee by Shayne Hommy, a Grade 11 First Nation Cree student at South Peace Secondary School in Dawson Creek, BC.

Remember folks, this is a yearly holiday, so this shirt is something you can wear again next year— not to mention, partial proceeds will go to the Orange Shirt Society to support awareness activities.

And of course, you can wear the shirt any other day of the year.

Finally, the organization also allows you to submit your own design, so long as you, of course, use the slogan, Every Child Matters.
