Rihanna's father has warned her new boyfriend to “buckle up” while dating his daughter.
The 29-year-old singer is currently dating Saudi Arabian businessman Hassan Jameel, whose family owns the rights to selling Toyota cars in the Middle East. Their romance went public when the pair were snapped frolicking in a hot tub in Spain earlier this week (beg26Jun16) and while Rihanna’s father Ronald Fenty was aware she was dating someone, he had no idea who he was or what he did for a living.
“She told me she had a new boyfriend about a month ago, but I didn’t know who he was. I always tell her, ‘Don’t date an entertainer, don’t date an athlete.’ They are busy going this way and that way, they don’t have any quality time, and they’re good looking guys so women fall all over them,” Ronald told The Sun, admitting he had no idea Hassan was a billionaire.
“He’s going to have to buckle up, she’s a hard-working girl, she’s very independent and ambitious. Nobody can tell her what to do. She doesn’t want to be lifted up, she wants to get up there herself. Hopefully, he’s a little bit more liberal and has spent more time in Europe and South America.”
Ronald also noted he may meet Hassan himself when Rihanna returns to Barbados in August (17), joking he would like some grandchildren soon.
Rihanna previously dated musicians Chris Brown and Drake on and off, the former of which assaulted her back in 2009, and has also been linked to musician Travis Scott and baseball player Matt Kemp.
Meanwhile, as her new romance is hotting up Rihanna has been served with a lawsuit from the wife of her former bodyguard Geoffrey Keating, who was in charge of security during her Diamond’s World Tour in 2013.
Dana Kavanagh’s case for damages and loss after her husband was dismissed from his job in 2015, following Keating’s failed bid to bring a defamation suit against Rihanna in 2014, is set to appear in Dublin’s High Court.
Rihanna has yet to comment on the case, though the publication states she will be represented by firm Matheson.
