Time Out recently released its annual ranking of the world's coolest neighbourhoods and this year, Montreal’s own Villeray made the list!
Just like the past three years, the list is based on votes from 27,000 city-dwellers including the magazine’s editors and various contributors.
Last year, Verdun was the only Quebec nighbourhood that made the cut (ranked number 11). This year, the only Quebec municipality to appear on the list is Villeray which takes the 18th spot. And the only other Canadian neighbourhood to crack the list was Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant.

After a difficult stop-start reopening, Montrealers seemed to unanimously agree that they'd get out there and make the most of 2021. Villeray was the place to do just that: its streets and gemstone parks became oases where locals would simply gather and make the most of one another’s company – exactly what the city needed after a long and lonely lockdown winter.
