Margot Robbie & Ryan Gosling to play Live action Barbie & Ken

Margot Robbie’s Barbie has seemingly found her Ken.

According to Deadline, the front runner for Ken is now Ryan Gosling!

The two-time Oscar-nominee is in final negotiations to star in the upcoming Warner Bros. and Mattel film, directed by Greta Gerwig, who also co-wrote the script with Noah Baumbach.

Margot Robbie, meanwhile, also pulls double duty on the project; in addition to starring as the iconic Mattel doll, she’s producing the movie under her LuckyChap Entertainment banner, the same studio that produced the Oscar-winning film, Promising Young Woman.

Barbie hasn’t always been the poster girl for body positivity or cultural inclusivity, but Greta Gerwig promises to put her own positive and modern spin on the project.

Filming is expected to begin in the new year.
