Every year on November 11th, Canadians everywhere stand in Remembrance of all who have fallen in the military service of our country.

For this year’s ceremony, Canadians can tune in to the annual National Remembrance Day service taking place at the National War Memorial in Ottawa on most national Canadian news TV networks or online.

According to the Ottawa Tourism website, “The ceremony starts at approximately 10:45 a.m. with the arrival of dignitaries such as the Prime Minister, the Governor General of Canada, and the Silver Cross Mother – a woman whose child has died while serving in the military.”

Additional programming include the following:

  • O Canada
  • Last Post
  • (11:00 am) Two Minutes of Silence
  • Lament
  • Rouse
  • Act of Remembrance
  • Prayers
  • Placing of Wreaths
  • Benediction
  • God Save the Queen
  • Dignitaries depart and ceremony concludes

To support your veterans, you can purchase a wreath from your nearest Legion Branch, which will be placed at a local commemorative event. All proceeds go to the Legion Poppy Fund in support of Canada’s Veterans and their families.
