Quebec will lift plenty of restrictions starting Monday

Starting Monday, January 31, Quebec restaurants will be allowed to reopen dining rooms. Quebec Premier François Legault made the announcement this afternoon during a press conference where he was joined by Health Minister Christian Dubé and Quebec’s interim Public Health Director, Dr. Luc Boileau.

While this is good news for restaurant owners, Legault did say that restaurants will only be permitted to operate at 50 per cent capacity and that no more than two families and a maximum of four people will be allowed to share a table.

In addition, Quebec will also allow small home gatherings of up to four people from different addresses or two family bubbles.

As of next Monday, all extra-curricular sports outside of schools will also be permitted but only for people eighteen and under and with a maximum of twenty-five participants. The rule applies to practices only and so competitive games will not be allowed.

Ski chalets will be able to open at half capacity.

In addition, there will be a maximum of two visitors allowed at the provinces' private long-term care homes (CHSLDs), so long as they visit one at a time. Meanwhile, at public care homes, the maximum number of visitors is four, but only two at a time will be allowed.

Legault went on to say that as of February 7, venues, cinemas, and arenas will be allowed to reopen at 50 per cent capacity with a maximum of 500 people.

The Biodôme, aquariums and planetariums can reopen at half capacity.

Places of worship will also be permitted to reopen on February 7 but only at half capacity with a 250-person maximum with a mandatory vaccine passport requirement.

Finally, funeral homes will be able to welcome as many as fifty people.
