Rain, rain, go away…
Montreal experienced some pretty heavy rain last night and left the city completely flooded in certain areas with road closures.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, around 60mm of rain hit the downtown core around 7pm, leaving sewers to overflow and many underpasses to close temporarily. A few cars were found stuck in some overpasses, but no injuries were reported.
The flooding didn’t stop there. Montreal’s Square-Victoria-OACI Metro station was covered with a pool of water at the entrance of the station, but the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) said they would not be stopping the metro cars due to the intense weather conditions.
In addition to underpass and metro flooding, many people’s homes were affected by the rain, as well as two schools on the south shore; Collège Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes in Longueuil and Collège Durocher Saint-Lambert.
