Travel is one of the most beautiful things in life, but it can also be the most annoying.

From barefeet, crying babies, and smelly passengers… The journey to your destination isn’t always the most enjoyable.

While we may have our own personal opinions of why travelling can be a major headache, we wanted to see what professional travellers had to say when it comes to travel pet peeves.

According to what we were able to find online, here are the top most annoying things people do on planes, according to flight attendants:

Taking luggage out from the overhead bin while the seatbelt sign is on. This can be dangerous, especially during turbulence as something can fall out and hit another passenger.

Taking off shoes and putting your feet over everything. This can be uncomfortable for passengers nearby as the stench from your feet can quickly stink up the place. Also, it’s just not sanitary.

Handing trash to a flight attendant while they are serving food. If the flight attendant does not have gloves on, this can be unsanitary for them as they are dealing with more than one passenger at a time. Also, cross contamination can occur when handling food.

Poking the flight attendant while they are serving another passenger. If the flight attendant is not able to hear your request, simply press the call button. They will gladly come serve you.
