Every year on November 11th, Canadians everywhere stand in Remembrance of all who have fallen in the military service of our country.

For this year’s commemoration ceremony, Montrealers are invited to the Jour du Souvenir Remembrance Day Ceremony at Place du Canada held at 1010 Rue De La Gauchetière O. in downtown Montreal to remember and honour all those who have served for our country.

The ceremony will include a vigil and placing of wreaths from 10:30am to 11:30am, as well as a 21-gun salute, cannon fire and a fly-over by military helicopters.

In addition, we here at The Beat will hold a moment of silence of our own at 11:00am with Donna Saker.

The area around Place du Canada will be closed to traffic from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

If you are unable to make the event but would like to support your veterans, you can purchase a wreath from your nearest Legion Branch, which will be placed at a local commemorative event.

All proceeds go to the Legion Poppy Fund in support of Canada’s Veterans and their families.
