Living in the metropolitain city has never been cheap. From parking fees, to restaurant prices and now renting rates, being a Montrealer comes with a (hefty) price. And now, it's become even worse.

According to research, Montreal has become the 16th most expensive market to rent a place to live in the last month. On average, a one bedroom in Montreal cost $1,500 to rent per month, whereas a two-bedroom cost $1,960.

The Régie du Logement du Québec expects rents to increase by up to 2.3 percent in the new year. Renters, prepare yourselves!
