Which is better: A duvet or a comforter?

Which is better: A duvet or a comforter?

If you’re a neat freak like us (or if you just like mixing things up once in a while), you’re already looking forward to spring cleaning season.

With spring cleaning comes reorganizing your cabinets, deep cleaning your carpets, and… refreshing your bedding and linens.

The question on every Montreal’s mind is: What is better to sleep in, a duvet or a comforter? Luckily, we’ve got the answer.

Before deciding, here are a few things you should know about duvets:

  • They're easy to look after (AKA they're easy to clean!)
  • You can change the style up whenever you want (hello, holiday bedding!)
  • They're fluffy and adapt to every season
  • They can fit to your budget. The fluffier, the more expensive.

Though duvets are oh-so-fluffy and comfy, they also come with their downsides:

  • They can become really expensive... a higher budget is sometimes required
  • You have to buy duvet covers seperately
  • Changing duvet covers can become...complicated (it often requires more than one person to change them).
  • Duvet covers are a pain if you're someone who moves a lot in their sleep. Sometimes they just won't stay put!

Comforters also have their upsides and downsides:

  • They're prettyyyyy (hello, dainty flower patterns!)
  • Often, they're sold in sets, meaning you don't have to worry about buying the matching sheets and pillowcases.
  • Unlike duvets, comforters can be installed really easily.

Now, for their downsides...

  • They're a big commitment if you're someone who likes to switch things up once in a while
  • Comforters will most likely flatten over time, so their durability isn't great.
  • You may have to dry-clean them only, making laundry a bit more complicated (and more expensive).

So, what's the verdict? If you're someone who appreciates high-quality bedding and styles you can switch up once in a while, we definitely recommend you stick with the duvet. If, on the other hand, you prefer classic and timeless styles and like to keep things simple, we definitely recommend you go with a comforter

Which one will you go for??
