Spring shopping is about to get...more expensive. Whether it be because of tax increase or supply and demand issues, these 3 items will cost you more starting April 1.
Gas
Filling up the gas in your car is about to get more expensive, Montreal. With the federal carbon tax increasing by $15 next month, the tax, in turn, will be raised by 3.26 cents per litre. Now would be a good time to consider taking public transport more often!

Lettuce
A very specific food item will continue to get more expensive next month. All we're gonna say is that it might make your sandwiches and tacos a little lonelier!
You guessed it folks, it's lettuce. Due to flooding and below-average temperatures, the supply of lettuce has decreased, therefore causing a rise in retail prices.
This isn't the first time Canadians have experienced a rise in lettuce prices. A similar situation occured last fall, when iceberg and Romaine lettuce saw significant price increases in grocery stores everywhere.
Alcohol
Your spring and summer seasons might be a little less boozy, Montreal. The federal beverage alcohol duty, imposed on all alcoholic beverages manufactured in Canada, will rise by 6.3 percent starting next month. This is the largest increase Canada has seen in over 40 years! Say goodbye, pinot grigio!
