In St-Francois, Laval, mornings aren't so nice and peaceful ever since some six thousand gulls have showed up..."The sound never stops and it goes on all day!" said one Laval resident in an interview.
From April to July, these 6,000 ring-billed gulls settle for the season on St-Francois's Île du Moulin Island, creating high disturbance for residents.
Though the city of Laval has tried to implement measures to steer away the gulls, such as specialized fences and drones, nothing seems to be working to keep these noisy birds away. According to an expert, the best solution would be to install wires around the island completely.
The city of Laval continues to search for measures that will prevent the issue from lasting, all while respecting wildlife in the region.
