With extreme heat waves, it can be easy to become lazy...but don't! With warmer temperatures, your plants especially need you to water them!

In order to upkeep your green babies in times of extreme heat like this, here are 7 tips to keep your plants thriving provided by Real Simple:

1. Water your plants according to weather

With higher temperatures, you may find yourself having to water your plants on a daily basis, Montreal! Make sure to adjust your plants' water intake with the weather out there.

2. Watch your water levels

Watering your plants isn't a 'one size fits all' situation...so make sure your plants get the water they need depending on their size. The bigger the plant, the more water it needs to survive!

3. Water your plants at the best times

Pro tip: Mornings and evenings are the best times to water your plants, whether you do it on a daily or weekly basis.

4. Too much is too much

There is such a thing as over-watering your plants, Montreal. Only add water to your plant until some of it leaks out of its drainage holes at the bottom. That's when you know you've poured enough!

5. Show the soil some love

Watering your plants is a must...but so is watering their soil! Make sure to show your plants' soil some love and and put water down there once in a while. That way, you'll make sure that your plants' roots are properly nourished.

6. Patience is key

Just like a watched pot never boils...a watched plant never grows. Give your plants some time and space to do their thing and before you know it, they'll have grown more than ever!

7. Stay dry!

Though this might seem odd, your plants' pots need to stay dry. So again, make sure you don't overwater your plants and keep the saucers under your plants free from water whenever you can!
