Close to 200,000 households out of power in Montreal right now

In Montreal, Wednesday, 2:35pm, thousands of households have lost power.

According to Hydro Quebec's power outage map, there are close to 200,000 households currently out of power on the island of Montreal. A "trigger of a protective mechanism on one of the high voltage transmission lines," has been determined as the cause.

The affected areas at this time are the majority of Montreal West's neighborhoods:

  • Côte-Des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce
  • Saint-Laurent
  • Côte Saint-Luc
  • Hampstead
  • Kirkland
  • Beaconsfield
  • Pointe-Claire
  • Mont-Royal
  • Île Perrot
