Stop scraping!
At least, that’s what this Weather Network life hack says you should do! Indeed… Why scrape when you can spray? All you’ll need is a few common items:
- 70% isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol;
- Water;
- Spray bottle.
Mix two parts isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) with one part water directly in the spray bottle, and voilà! You have a handy, homemade “antifreeze” mixture to use on all parts of your car. Just spray and wipe down to get rid of ice on the outside of your car.
BONUS: you can use this to defrost INSIDE your car as well! No more waiting for the heater to warm up.
Since isopropyl has a very low freezing temperature, you can also store the spray bottle in your car.

Of course, being Canadian, you may still have to scrape a bit to remove ice if it’s a thick layer – but this will help soften the ice from the outside and make your car easier to clean. Plus, you can use the spray bottle to clean parts of your car that can’t be reached by the antifreeze jets.
