Justin Timberlake once declared that he will never stop performing his song Cry Me a River.

During a performance at Dave Chappelle's birthday party in August this year, the SexyBack singer seemingly responded to Britney Spears's fans asking him to not perform the 2002 song anymore.

According to video footage posted on X/Twitter over the weekend, Justin told the audience before launching into the track, "They said not to do this song no more. F**k that!"

The singer dated Britney from 1999 to 2002, when the couple broke up amid cheating rumours.

The lyrics for Cry Me a River also described cheating, including, "You don't have to say, what you did, I already know, I found out from him."

In a 2003 interview with Rolling Stone, the Toxic singer revealed that Justin warned her he was releasing the song with a music video featuring a Britney lookalike.

"I think I was in shock, to be honest. I didn't know what to say, what to do," she said at the time. "That was the last thing I ever thought somebody might do. I was really shocked s**tless."

In her memoir, The Woman in Me, the 41-year-old confirmed the long-running rumour that she cheated on Justin and confessed that she once kissed dancer Wade Robson during a night out. She claimed she told the NSYNC singer about her transgression and they moved on from it.

The Woman in Me will be released on Tuesday.
