The Beatles have announced that they will release their "final" song, Now and Then, in November.

The legendary British band will be releasing their final song more than 50 years after they disbanded.

The song, titled Now and Then, was originally written by John Lennon in 1970, soon after the band broke up. It was later completed in 2022 by the band's two surviving members, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney.

Earlier this year, Paul hinted at a new release, stating that artificial intelligence (AI) technology was used to "extricate" John's voice from a cassette tape.

The track is set to be released on 2 November. It will also feature on newly remastered versions of The Beatles' Red and Blue albums, which are due to drop on 10 November. The two volumes will feature iconic songs such as The Long and Winding Road and Love Me Do.

"There it was, John's voice, crystal clear," Paul stated in a press release. "It's quite emotional. And we all play on it, it's a genuine Beatles recording. In 2023 to still be working on Beatles music, and about to release a new song the public haven't heard, I think it's an exciting thing."

"It was the closest we'll ever come to having him back in the room so it was very emotional for all of us," Ringo added. "It was like John was there, you know. It's far out."

A short documentary, titled Now And Then – The Last Beatles Song, will premiere on 1 November, and the music video for Now and Then will follow on 3 November.
