Lynne Spears denies she's thrown out daughter Britney Spears' childhood belongings after the singer claimed that was the case in her new memoir.

Britney released her hotly-anticipated tome, The Woman in Me, last month. One of the passages accused her estranged mum of getting rid of the Madame Alexander dolls she’d collected as a youngster, journals and “a binder full of poetry".

The Toxic singer said her things were gone when she went back home to Louisiana during the pandemic.

Refuting the claims, Lynne took to Instagram to share photos of the items in question, and reassured Britney they were safe in her care.

"@britneyspears I'm not sure who told you I got rid of your dolls and journals but I would never do that!" Lynne captioned the images. "That would be cruel because I know how much they mean to you. They are special to me too because of the years we spent collecting them. Of course I still have your things, and I am happy to send them to you if you'd like me to. Please let me know and know how much I love you!"

In The Woman in Me, Britney recalled feeling an "overwhelming sadness" when she saw "the empty shelves".

"I thought of the pages I’d written through tears. I never wanted to publish them or anything like that, but they were important to me. And my family had thrown them in the trash, just like they’d thrown me away," she penned.
