Celine Dion made a surprise appearance at the 2024 Grammys on Sunday to present Taylor Swift with the Album of the Year prize.

The My Heart Will Go On singer had the crowd on its feet as she took to the stage to present the final - and arguably the most significant - award of the evening: Album of the Year.

"Thank you all," Celine told the audience, to rapturous applause. "I love you right back. When I say that I'm happy to be here, I really mean it. From my heart.

"Those who have been blessed enough to be here at the Grammy Awards must never take for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and to people all around the world."

Her words had special meaning, given Celine has laid low, remaining out of the public eye since December 2022, when she revealed she had been diagnosed with Stiff-Person Syndrome, a neurological disorder.

Celine presented Taylor with the top honour for her album Midnights. It marked Taylor's fourth win in the Best Album category, making her the first artist ever to win four times.

"For me, the award is the work," she said in her speech. "All I want to do is keep being able to do this. I love it so much. It makes me so happy. It makes me unbelievably blown away that it makes some people happy who voted for this award too. All I want to do is keep doing this. So thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to do what I love so much. Mind blown. Thank you so much."

The 2024 Grammys were hosted by Trevor Noah at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
