This year’s Montreal’s winter season is the second warmest winter on record

The winter season of 2023-2024 in Montreal has now officially been acknowledged as the second warmest since weather recordings began in 1871.

Gregory Yang, a meteorologist from Environment Canada, noted that the temperatures in December, January, and February were each four degrees higher compared to the climate data from 1981 to 2010.

The city also experienced a record-breaking high of 14.9 Celsius degrees on February 27, 2024. 

In general, despite the occasional snowfall in Montreal this past season and a few cold snaps, the temperatures in January and February were surprisingly mild. Which you can bet has left some winter sports enthusiasts feeling a little bit disappointed...
