REPORT | Montreal has officially seen the worst with potholes...

Well, it's official...the city of Montreal has seen the worst when it comes to potholes. A new record has already been reached for 2024, with more than 2,300 potholes reported in January and February (that's the highest number since 2019!)

More precisely, 2,328 potholes have been reported by drivers and passers by between January 1st and February 28th of this year. In 2023, this number was much lower, with only 1,776 potholes reported over the same period.

What could explain this increase, you might ask? Reports will tell you that unlucky weather conditions are to blame. Simply put, the varying weather we've had this winter has heated up and cooled down the water inside pavement roads. In turn, this has created pressure and cracks inside the pavement, leading to more potholes than anticipated.

The lesson is...watch out on the roads, Montreal!
