Eminem has run a fake obituary for Slim Shady, who is the rapper's alter ego.

Several weeks after announcing his upcoming record, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace), the rapper has put a notice in a Detroit Newspaper paying tribute to Slim's career in the “underground rap scene of the mid to late 1990s.”

It read, "Shady first became a household name in 1999 with the debut of his playfully deranged single My Name Is, which - along with its uniquely eye catching video - exposed the young artist and his lyrics to a wider audience. That audience was soon exposed to the extreme darkness of the muse/rapper, as he led millions of music fans down a road that glorified a demonstrably nihilistic worldview."

The article featured a photo of Eminem wearing a pair of dungarees and a white hockey mask, and a caption reading “Fans Will ‘Never Forget’ Controversial Rapper."

The star announced the album with a video starring 50 Cent, who describes Slim Shady as a psychopath. Eminem then says, “I knew it was only a matter of time for Slim.”

He's also released an image, believed to the album artwork, featuring a figure with a knife wound to the chest.

Eminem's 12th album will be released later this year. His last album, Music to Be Murdered By, was released in 2020.
