Celine Dion has revealed she "almost died" from the autoimmune disease, Stiff Person Syndrome.
The singer told Hoda Kotb just how ill she was when she was first diagnosed with the condition.
"Céline Dion at some point - she is now much better - but, at some point, she almost died, which is something that she says, and it was a scary time," Hoda said ahead of her interview with the singer being aired on Hoda and Jenna.
"She was diagnosed with a terrible disease and, at one point, she wondered if she was going to make it, whether she was going to live through it," she said. "A lot of people are wondering what happened, what was wrong."
Hoda revealed she asked the 56-year-old about the "possibility of a comeback," adding, "we'll see where she is on her journey of coming back, but I know people are cheering her on. We've missed her, and it was a very emotional interview."
The Power of Love singer was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in 2022. The disease is a rare autoimmune neurological disorder that causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms.
In a trailer for her new documentary, I Am: Celine Dion, the Grammy-award winning star talks about how the illness has affected her voice.
"When your voice brings you joy, you're the best of yourself," she said. "I need my instrument. I'm working hard every day, but I have to admit it's a struggle. I miss it so much. If I can't run I'll walk. If I can't walk, I'll crawl. But I won't stop, she won't stop."
I Am: Celine Dion is set to be released on 25 June on Amazon Prime.
