Rihanna has opened up about her struggle with postpartum hair loss.
The Fenty Beauty mogul revealed to Refinery29 that she didn't expect patches of her hair to fall out "in waves" after giving birth to her sons RZA, two, and Riot, 10 months.
"Oh my gosh girl, that was not on the pamphlet," she shared. "I didn't expect it to happen in waves either. I thought it would just happen and grow back. But it went this spot, then this spot, then this spot. At that point, you're just like alright enough is enough."
However, the 36-year-old noted that her hair loss forced her to get more inventive with her looks.
"I also learned to embrace that in itself. That actually just made me get a little more creative and clever with my hairstyles," she added.
The entrepreneur launched Fenty Hair, the latest addition to her businesses after Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin, earlier this month. The haircare line features reparative and strengthening shampoos and conditioners, among other products.
In a speech at her recent launch party, Rihanna, real name Robyn Rihanna Fenty, revealed that Fenty Hair took four years to create because she wanted it to be better than "all of the brands that I've been in love with my entire life".
She continued, "Evolving as a woman and even as an artist, hair has been such a huge part of that and a reflection of whatever I'm feeling. So, it changes a lot and my hair goes through a lot. Making this brand, I had to consider all of those things. I want to look fly, but I want my hair to be healthy. How do I do that? All of my products need to strengthen and repair while I'm out just being fabulous."
Rihanna shares her sons with her rapper boyfriend A$AP Rocky.
