Montreal, while we are trying to get through this week’s heat wave, Environment Canada has issued another major weather alert for this afternoon.
According to the agency, conditions are favorable for a severe thunderstorm, which could produce strong gusts, large hail, and heavy rain. The storms are expected to arrive in the afternoon.
Wind gusts may toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, and break tree branches. Intense lightning and heavy downpours are also expected. Environment Canada warns that water-related activities are unsafe due to the strong winds.
They also remind Canadians that lightning can cause injuries or worse and advise staying indoors when hearing thunder.
The alert is in effect for Montreal and Laval.
