Sabrina Carpenter has revealed one of her tour outfits was inspired by a look in the ABBA Voyage concert.
The Espresso singer went to the holographic concert in London and had her eye on one of the fabrics, so she and her stylist Jared Ellner created a new version for her Short n' Sweet Tour, during which she wears a shimmering halterneck top and matching miniskirt.
"There was this one fabric that one of the girls was wearing. It was so gorgeous and it was like liquidy and it just moved," she shared in a tour video for Vogue. "It was a hologram. I was like, 'I need that goddamn outfit, it's so beautiful!' But it wasn't real, so I was just like, 'We need to do our own version of this.'"
Sabrina and Jared divulged more tour outfit inspirations throughout the video. Her babydoll look was inspired by actress-singer Brigitte Bardot and scenes of girls getting ready in Grease and Bye Bye Birdie, and her black catsuit took inspiration from Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn.
"Marilyn Monroe wears a good amount of catsuits. There's one from There's No Business like Show Business, it's black with a teal sash," Jared shared, noting that they tried the sash but it "didn't go well".
The Please Please Please hitmaker added, "I was always really inspired by Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face because of how classic and minimal (she looked) and how much she's moving in that movie. You can really see her movements because of the black. It just looks so sleek. It was always really exciting that it could be black and snatched. And then you (Jared) added the gloves and little details and that's what's made it feel more unique to me."
The U.S. leg of the Short n' Sweet Tour concludes in Inglewood, California on 18 November.
